I’ve just finished my final for Foundations of Ministry and I am now completely done with my first semester of college! Wow, it seems like just a few weeks ago I was just beginning and now one seventh of my undergrad experience is over. Looking back, God has been so good and amazing to me. The fact that he placed me here at Biola is truly amazing in and of itself, but the life change that has happened here in these few months have been nothing short of incredible. Like every other freshman, I came to Biola not knowing hardly anyone. I had to go out and meet new people and really start over. All of the relationships and reputations I had made over the past eighteen years were wiped clean and I had a new beginning. It was daunting the first week of school, but I soon made friends and began bonding with the guys on my floor. As classes started, some seemed overwhelming, but I was able to power through and do a really good job academically this first semester of college. If I had to pinpoint some classes that I really enjoyed, they would be Foundations of Ministry, First Year Seminar, and Old Testament. Foundations of Ministry was such a great class and even though it was Jane’s first time teaching it, she did a great job. I learned so much and the class really bonded as a CE family. First Year Seminar is a class that all freshmen have to take as an introduction to their major. The CE FYS was great. The CE Freshmen are truly family. We really look out and care for one another. Old Testament was by far my favorite class academically. I wasn’t too sure about the class before the semester began and even during the first few class sessions because I had heart that the class was boring and hard. On the contrary, I truly enjoyed Ron Pierce’s class. He has some sort of a fatherly/grandfatherly wisdom that intrigued me to listen more and more. Like a small child, I absorbed the wisdom of this man who has been teaching this class for over thirty years. I’m really excited to take his class on the book of Daniel in my Junior or Senior year. Relationally, this semester has been great. I didn’t know that I would be able to develop such good friendships in such a short time. God has definitely blessed me with quality relationships. This semester has been truly great. I’ve grown spiritually and matured in my walk with Christ. It is so great to be in a place where people genuinely care about the spiritual welfare of everyone else. It’s now time to go home for the nice six week break where I’ll be working hard at my internship, but I’ve just learned that I can’t go home for a few more days because Southern California is experiencing one of the biggest winter storms in it’s history. Every road that leads to Victorville is closed down. Hopefully I’ll be able to get out of here before the school kicks us out on Friday. lol.
One Semester in the Bag (now hopefully I’ll be able to make it home)
