It’s amazing how God works. Going to college, it was my desire to find a new church and get plugged in and invest myself in whatever church that would be. Being that I live seventy-five miles north of Biola, I knew that I wouldn’t have the temptation that many of my friends do to go to their home churches (both of my roommates live within a ten minute drive of Biola).
At the beginning of the semester, I was set on going out and trying new places. I first attended Mosaic, Erwin McManus’ church in Los Angeles, but realized that that church wasn’t for me. I then attended Mariners Church in Irvine and immediately felt God telling me that Mariners was the place for me. I was content and I was excited that I had found a new church so quickly.
Well, it is three and a half months into this first semester and God has called me back to my home church. My church, High Desert Church in Victorville, recently lost its High School coordinator/intern and asked me to take his place. Granted the high desert is a considerable drive from La Mirada, but I really felt God telling me that this was (and still is) the right move for me. It is really funny how I am now working at my home church, but I am really enjoying it and, as I said before, I know that I am doing what God wants me to do.
Myself and a student from Cal Baptist now both work as High School coordinators. My job consists of interaction with students, mainly making sure new students are welcomed and invited to small groups and working directly to train and mentor student leaders. It is so exciting to dive into ministry so quickly. I was looking to volunteer at Mariners, but God now has me working at High Desert Church. I am still amazed at how quickly He gave me an internship. I am so excited for what the future holds with working at HDC, especially the one on one time that I am going to be having with students. It is exciting to get to learn aspects of ministry that cannot be taught in a classroom.
Anyways, I feel like I’m rambling a bit, but basically, it is amazing to see how God works. He opens up doors that you never imagine and does things that make you know that His plan is best. If you want to check out my new ministry, click the following link: www.hdcfuel.com
God’s Plans Are Always Best (and sometimes include a lot of driving)
